SmartSolve CEO and CRO Discuss Circularity Conference
On May 22nd through May 24th, our CEO Jonathan Jakubowski and our CRO Alex Abbott attended the 2024 Circularity Conference held in Chicago, IL. This conference brought together leaders, keynote speakers, and individuals that are passionate about helping to build a circular economy and make it a reality within various trades, including the packaging industry. Both Jon and Alex have weighed in to discuss their thoughts about the conference and the positive impact that it is making.
Conference Highlights
When discussing the most impactful part of the event, Abbott explained how it was exciting to see the number of large companies represented, as well as hearing business leaders explain how sustainability must become the focus of a business and its culture, instead of only a portion of it.
Jakubowski explained how the most impactful part of the event for him was being able to attend a Chicago Cubs game with Alex Abbott and Cory Connors, as meaningful conversations begin to result from long term relationships being built. Further, talking points are able to extend outward from panels, leading to significant life on life connections.
When asked if there was a part of the conference that resonated well with Abbott, he explained that for him it was when the CEO of IKEA was sharing how he was also the head of sustainability within the company, to ensure that all decisions were made according to specific guidelines, as a core part of the business.
Jakubowski described how the reuse movement was what resonated the most for him, as SmartSolve can become a part of sustainability stories with materials that leave behind zero waste and are safe for the environment.
When discussing key insights that were gained at the conference, Abbott explained that one of the goals of SmartSolve is to elevate the ideas of circularity and make it a foundational part of the business.
Jakubowski stated that SmartSolve has a major role to play in sustainability, as companies are looking for alternative packaging solutions that generate less waste. SmartSolve materials are home compostable, 100% bio based, and biodegradable, while also creating new and innovative solutions within the packaging industry.
