SMARTSOLVE INDUSTRIES HOME COMPOSTING FACILITY
SmartSolve packaging materials are zero-waste materials. We produce materials (for packaging, for labelling, pouches, and others) which are 100% bio-based, flushable, bio-degradable and compostable. Our claims are based on the results of various testing and certifications by external standard agencies (example Marine biodegradation testing). In addition to external testing agencies, SmartSolve Industries has recently established a home composting center. This center principally serves three purposes: 1) Testing Center, where compostability of SmartSolve materials are tested under various home composting conditions. 2) Demonstration Center, where our customers and the community can visit and see the compostability of our materials under home composting conditions. 3) Educational Center, where we provide education and training on various home composting methods to keep our environment free of pollution by practically engaging nature’s methods of recycling.
Home composting systems, unlike industrial comtofacilities, vary considerably in their design, construction and operation, and hence their performance. Table 1 gives comparison of conditions and tests for home composting and industrial composting methods.
To encompass the differences in home composting methods and to study the process of compostability of our material under various conditions, we established five common home composting methods (EPA). Table 2 shows different home composting methods which are established at SmartSolve Industries with unique properties of each method.
